The Essentials of HIV-Integrated Care: Expanding Whole-Person Care Through Comprehensive and Specialty Trainings, is an HIV syndemic focused training series aimed at providing the most up-to-date information and education for medical health care team members currently not involved in HIV care to increase their ability to prevent new HIV infections, identify people with HIV who are undiagnosed or out of care, and link patients not on antiretrovirals to care.
This session will be on Stimulant Use Disorders & Sexualized Drug Use Among Populations at Elevated Risk for HIV and will be presented by Jona Tanguay, MS, PA-C, AAHIVS, CAQ-Psych, Vice President of Medical Services & Gender-Affirming Care, Amida Care.
By the end of the presentation, participants will be able to:
1. Contextualize stimulant use disorder and substance use among populations at elevated risk for HIV using epidemiology and syndemic theory
2. Define sexualized substance use and its relevance to HIV care
3. Apply safety optimization techniques to support the wellness of people who use stimulants and party drugs
4. Begin to translate clinical research on treatments for stimulants into therapeutic prescribing practices
