Training for primary care providers and care teams on the management of tuberculosis infection (previously known as latent tuberculosis) in the primary care setting.
Learning Objectives:
• Define tuberculosis infection vs. active tuberculosis and review TB natural history
• Discuss epidemiology of tuberculosis infection (TBI) in Massachusetts and nationally
• Explain rationale for TBI screening and treatment in primary care
• Describe TBI screening recommendations and best practices, including among people with HIV (PWH)
• Identify patients at highest risk for reactivation of tuberculosis
• List first-line treatment options and discuss monitoring, potential side effects, and contraindications, with focused discussion of recommendations for PWH
