With the use of ART, the face of HIV has changed to where one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality for patients living with HIV is now cardiovascular disease. Patients infected with HIV are felt to be at higher risk for heart attack and stroke. Diagnosis and management of risk factors as well as manifest cardiovascular disease is important in the overall care of our patients. This talk will review the epidemiology of cardiovascular disease in this patient population as well how to both manage disease and what to do to help prevent occurrence. One Continuing Medical Education (CME) or Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) credit is availble for attendees.
