- What immigrant trauma is
- Factors contributing to stressful acculturation among immigrant communities
- How this trauma affects the immigrant's ability and likelihood to seek medical and mental health care
- What xenophobia is and how it is expressed
- Approaches health care providers can take to help immigrants care for themselves and seek medical care when needed
- Tips for health care providers to create trust and open communication with immigrants to form a health care partnership; particularly when more sensitive and stigmatizing diagnosis are present such as HIV and hepatitis
