Charlie Smigelski, RD
Charlie Smigelski, RD provides nutrition consultations in many Boston area settings. He is a nutrition counselor at Harvard University. His work there ranges from nutrition support for people with AIDS to behavioral and cognitive interventions for compulsive overeaters, to wellness programs for people with chronic disease. He lectures to Harvard staff physicians, to university employees, and to intercollegiate Harvard athletic teams. He has a reputation for being remarkably informative as well as entertaining.
Charlie has worked over 10 years in the area of HIV disease care. He is the co-founder of the Boston-based "HIV Nutrition Coalition", a task force publicizing the need for and scope of aggressive nutritional intervention in AIDS care.
For 9 years he has been at the Fenway Community Health Center, one of Boston's primary HIV research and treatment centers. For the past 4 years, he and Sherwood Gorbach , MD have co-edited the Tufts Medical School HIV Nutrition newsletter: Nutrition for Healthy Living.
Previous work included a 7 years stint at the world-famous Framingham Heart Study through his affiliation with the Boston University School of Public Health. Other projects now include generating nutritional counseling Web sites.
In his spare time you might find Charlie having a great time riding his new Trek 5200 bike on Bike Tour Colorado around Telluride, or skiing Whistler - Blackcomb, or just swimming Walden Pond and playing Boston area hockey.
