HIV and the Skin

1) List common infections, cancers and inflammatory skin diseases seen in HIV

2) Recognize how changes in the immune status of an individual with HIV can influence the types of skin diseases seen.

3) Identify unusual presentations of some skin diseases such as zoster (shingles) that suggest a person is immunosuppressed and may warrant HIV testing.

4) Recognize common skin diseases seen in the healthy population that are also seen in HIV as well as basic treatment options for these conditions.

 

HIV Infection and Cardiovascular Disease

1)Discuss the data regarding increased cardiovascular risk associated with HIV and HIV medications and

2) Recognize how to modify cardiovascular risk factors in persons living with HIV.

 

Patient Focused HIV Med Adherence Strategies

1) Identify 5 strategies to increase HIV med adherence with the ultimate goal of increasing CD4 count and maintain an undetectable viral load;

2) Identify the importance of good listening skills to allow clients to voice their needs;

3) Gain confidence in working effectively with HIV+ individuals who have adherence issues.
