Method of Physician Participation Utilized in Learning Process:
There are no fees for participating and receiving CME credit for this activity. During the period September 23, 2011 through October 23, 2011 participants must 1) read the learning objectives and faculty disclosures; 2) study the educational activity; 3) register and complete the evaluation form; and 4) provide email to send your CME certificate.

Course Overview:
In this web-based program, physicians will learn how recent advances in basic and clinical research have helped to advance the understanding of treatment advances in the management of patients who are HIV positive or at risk for HIV infection.

Intended Audience:
All providers who offer care to HIV+ patients or patients at risk for HIV disease.

Registration:
Enrollment for this WebCAST is complimentary, and clinicians are invited to participate in this CME-certified WebCAST and/or share this invitation with other colleagues, departmental staff members, and healthcare professionals.

Grantor Support:
The New England AIDS Education and Training Center (NEAETC), established in 1988, is one of eleven Regional AIDS Education and Training Centers (AETC), and five National Centers, funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), and sponsored regionally by the Commonwealth Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School through a grant from the Health Resources & Services Administration, Federal Grant No. H4AHA00050.

Accreditation Statement:
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of The University of Massachusetts Medical School and New England AIDS Education and Training Center. The University of Massachusetts Medical School is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The University of Massachusetts Medical School designates this enduring material for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Under the auspices of the New England AIDS Education & Training Center, this offering meets the requirements for a maximum of 1.2 contact hours, as specified by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing (244-CMR 5.04). Each nurse should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

Educational Objectives:
At the completion of this program participants should be able to:

  • Outline the epidemiology of neuro-psychiatric disorders among HIV infected persons
  • Identify 2 potential consequences of HIV-related depression
  • Implement options for evaluation and management  of HIV related depression

To participate in this program, viewers must have a PC or Macintosh computer that has active, ongoing internet access for the duration of the program, as well as a compatible Flash-viewer and an email address is required for registration and to send the CME certificate.

The personal information provided through registration and evaluations allow for issuance and tracking of CME certificates.  This information may also be used to track aggregate responses to questions in activities and evaluations to inform the ongoing evaluation and improvement of its CME program.  No personal information collected from evaluations will be shared with third parties.
