We are a network of HIV specialists and primary care clinicians who provide collegial support and expertise to one another, enhancing and advancing care for persons with HIV disease in their communities.

Participants are invited to bring cases from their own practices for discussion.

At the completion of this program participants should be able to:

  • Apply current standards of care for HIV detection, diagnosis, staging, and surveillance for selected cases in aging patients with HIV.
  • Strategize appropriate interventions for selected cases in the patient over fifty.
  • Outline basic considerations for specialty consultation and referral, appropriate strategies for interventions of care team members, self-care and support, and follow-up in older HIV patient.
  • Define practice standards that address the legal and ethical responsibilities of care-providers
  • Identify common ethical dilemmas encountered in case management.

The University of Massachusetts Medical School is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Credit Designation Statement: The University of Massachusetts Medical School designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ which includes 1.25 hours of Risk Management Credit. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses: Under the auspices of the New England AIDS Education & Training Center, this offering meets the requirements for a maximum of 1.2 contact hours, as specified by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing (244-CMR 5.04). Each nurse should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.
